CORRECTION
I was wrong. . . Lesotho is the only landlocked country in AFRICA. Sorry. Please forgive me, Wade.

What's Up With That?
I have a bone to pick. It' has nothing to do with cycling, though a bone none the less. Ok. I'm all about Bono's "Save Africa" deal with everything red. There are phones, Chuckies, watches American Express cards, iPods and of course The Gap has it all over. Go (RED) or go home. I did get one of the shirts for Christmas and I also have one that says HAMME(RED). That's my favorite. I purchased a full zip red hooded sweatshirt from the (RED) collection and this is where the bone comes in. The red hoodie is great. It fits nice and everyone needs a good red hoodie. The problem is this. My peeps at The Gap put out this sweatshirt to help the AIDS issue in Africa, however, IT IS MADE IN CHINA! Are they going to ignore the labor issues of China to help out the medical issues of Africa? I don't like that.

On the other hand I would like to give a should out to The Gap for having a lot of their tshirts made in Lesotho. What is Lesotho you ask? It is the only landlocked country in the world. My high school history teacher who I loved went there for his Peace Corp work. He was a good hippie. He also had the opportunity to go back and trade lives with a teacher there. I heard a rumor that he is writing a book on the experience. I would really like to read that. Anyways, I digress. It is good to see The Gap bring some love to Africa's little landlocked country.

Any thoughts on this issue? Tricia? Wade? Sweetness? Bueller? Bueller?

Peace Out

I'm Officially 30!
Hello lovies . ..

I have now officially turned 30. The only thing that hurts about it is the hangover from last night's big bang. The cards were all great. Super thanks to all you awesome fans who sent me ecards. Honestly, there were a lot of you. I hope www.hallmark.com didn't have a nuclear shut down of their server!

Anyways . .. lots of great comments coming in lately. Just wanted to let you know that I have fashioned a Duct Tape Phone Case and will be featuring that on the blog this week. I didn't get my hands on any pink tape yet (sic) though I did use the regular silver for the prototype. I actually like the thing. A few minor issues. If my phone is in the case and in my back pocket, I can't feel it vibrate. That's not always a cool thing. That's my biggest, and still petty, gripe about the whole thing. I'm going to live.

My friend Sara B. started her own blog. She is a cycling writer and a total hottie. Check her stuff out. She's just getting started so BE NICE. I also love her because she sends me things like this all the time.

That picture makes me think of that song "I'm the one who wants to be with you. . . deep inside I know you feel it too . . . waiting on a line of green and blue. . . just to be the next to be with you." I want to say that is a Tesla song? Correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm debating putting up any birthday party pics. . . . they may be used against me .. . ok. . . you get two. . .

This is the t shirt that Mr. BK bought to wear out for my birthday. I was very flattered by the sentiment.

The other pics is my gals and I . . . we can officially call this the "before" picture. Dirty Mary is on the left and Megs is on the right. These are my best girls around these parts. Dirty Mary and I have been pals since 8th grade. We have the same birthday.

Ok my sweet peeps. . .
Peace Out

what do I want for my 30th birthday? Why PINK DUCT TAPE, of course!
Hi Sportsfans. . .

The 30th birthday is quickly approaching. My BFF in Little Rock, Arkansas must not have been too busy at work yesterday because she sent me a link to make a cell phone case out of duct tape.
This shouldn't surprise you. She actually sent me the WikiHow to make root beer. Apparently, she thinks I have that kind of time. (Note: Root beer has to sit for like 6 weeks or something crazy like that. . . not to mention, I like REGULAR beer.) So I was REALLY intrigued by this phenomenon of making a cell phone case out of duct tape. I read it and brainstormed how to embellish it enough for my liking. I decided I had to have PINK DUCT TAPE. This is readily available online for a tall shipping fee. You can actually choose almost any color of the rainbow. I don't know if I could find the pink stuff in town, though I thought it would make such a lovely gift for someone other than my husband to get for me for my birthday.
Ok. . . signing off, for now.

Peace Out

ENFP
My mom used to do this test with me when I was young. Hasn't changed much. Have fun!

ENFP - "Journalist". Uncanny sense of the motivations of others. Life is an exciting drama. 8.1% of total population.
Free Jung Personality Test (similar to Myers-Briggs/MBTI)

Only in Illinois
Check out this article I found on www.cnn.com. I will be the first to tell you, I am not a huge fan of the pedaling and going nowhere scheme. Living in Wisconsin we're known to spend a lot of time on the trainers. This guy has me beat by a long shot. I can say that for sure. I'm glad to see he's raising money for a good cause in the process. I wonder if I qualify as a good cause. . .

HINSDALE, Illinois (AP) -- A man who claimed an apparent record by riding a stationary bike for 85 hours finished the feat by checking into a hospital.
After two days of recovery and lots of fluids and sleep, 49-year-old George Hood of Aurora pronounced himself almost back to normal Monday. His bid for a record was still awaiting certification for a place in the Guinness World Records book.
"I've got a few aches in my left leg, but it's nothing that I can't handle," he said by phone shortly before ending what he called a precautionary stay at Adventist Hinsdale Hospital.
Statistics from the ride were eye-opening: the equivalent of nearly 1,083 miles spun and 27,854 calories burned, which had him curious to step on a scale to find out how many pounds he'd lost.
Hood, a Drug Enforcement Administration supervisor, raised approximately $30,000 for the Illinois chapter of COPS, an organization that helps the families of slain police officers, through the long bike ride.

Dirty Laundry, Chicks that Ride and Kicking Hot Rock
There are three categories of laundry at my house.
  1. Pinks
  2. Darks
  3. Stuff that's been peed on

This can be frustrating. I don't like all this stuff that's been peed on. The pink stuff doesn't bother me that much and either do the darks, it's #3. With a puppy who doesn't love his kennel, which he isn't in very much, so he needs to chill and the 4 year old (bless her heart) who refuses to wear pull ups to bed after 3 glasses of water after dinner . . . I'm up to my elbows in pee.

One of my New Years Resolutions is to include something about cycling in every post, so here you go

I know I briefly mentioned this in the last post, but I really want to talk about it now. Tim Grahl of Crooked Cog Network has me writing for his new women's cycling site. This is a great addition to the Crooked Cog family and something great for women cyclists everywhere. Today I posted about clipless pedals. Also posted today was Coreena Fletcher with Loeka Clothing. Check out the Loeka Clothing line. I LOVE it and look forward to trying some out. Coreena has some great advice for women getting into cycling. A super shout out to her. I can't wait to meet her soon.

New music. Check out The Hold Steady. I just got my hands on their newest album, "Boys -n- Girls in America". It has the Bruce Springsteen feel , even more than the Killers did and some great lyrics, like on "Stuck Between Stations", the first song, "She was a really good kisser, but wasn't that strict of a Christian. She was a really good dancer, but not that great of a girlfriend" That one pokes me a little. Great song. They also have a song called "Chips Ahoy!" That's just freaking awesome. I'm going to keep listening and hopefully you will check it out too, at least if you know what's good for you.

Peace Out

And she evolves. . .
Hi folks!
Hope you enjoyed the video. The Paris Roubaix one is FREAKING AWESOME! Go Bob, Go! Anyways, big news, kittie kats! BK is contributing to yet ANOTHER site. This is good. Find my cycling diarrhea of the mouth also on the newest WOMENS MOUNTAIN BIKE SITE ON THE WEB!

This is a site promoting women in cycling and developed by the one and only, Tim Grahl. Yes, folks, he is the mastermind behind the entire Crooked Cog Network. A god. A genius. A man changing the cycling industry one blog at a time.

So you work for a cycling company? So you're developing a line of gear (any gear will do) for women? Sweet. We want to review your stuff. Get in touch with me. bkouttathebag@gmail.com. I, as always, wanna hear from you.

Bob Roll: Original American Hero
This video is not only a great depiction of the great madness we call Paris-Roubaix, it shows our hero, Bob "Bobke" Roll completing the race as the top American finisher.
Thanks to Scott Coady, THE filmmaker of cycling, for bringing this to my attention.

eLoad Prevails!
As most of my regular kittie kats know, I'm a huge fan of eLoad. This is the hangover cure of the year. My whole staff at Gray's Tied House, where I spend 3 nights a week ask me for this stuff constantly. It is seriously the best when it comes to the next day. Dr McCoolDown invented this stuff for heat recovery and since a hangover is quite the same (and more common for us up here in the frozen tundra of Wisconsin) we dig it.

My super pal, Erica, also known as Sunshine, works with me at Grays has agreed to do the Muddy Buddy with me in Austin Texas. WE ARE LOOKING FOR SPONSORS TO GET OUR WHITE BUTTS DOWN TO THE PROMISELAND. Hey! Dr. McCoolDown! Can you help? We may have some ins, but we're still in need of some help. You (or anyone who throws a few bucks at us) will be featured on the official hot pink Verona Vagina/Bitch Kittie tshirts. Email me at bkouttathebag@gmail.com if you're interested. Huge press for you!

I received a press release a few days back about a race that eLoad has been chosen to be the official drink for the second year running. Check it out.

Press Release

Mas O Manos Ultra Endurance MTB Race Announces Eload™ Heat Endurance Formula as Official Course Drink

hyponatremia which makes it the best choice for an ultra endurance event. Dr. Douglas Stoddard MD, the medical director for Medion and the e load™ formulator, says “this drink was specifically designed for use in the heat, taking into account every known issue re digesting, absorption and fueling in these conditions. We continue to enjoy a solid reputation in helping athletes succeed in the heat, and are very excited to be able to once again participate in the Mas O Manos Ultra Endurance MTB Race. Eload™ has also been used in the medical tents of the Hotter’n Hell Hundred this past year with astounding results.

The
Mas O Manos Race, a 100km cramp fest with over 6,000 feet of climbing and $25,000 of cash and prizes has been announced by USA Cycling as the opening race for the MTB Ultra-Endurance Calendar.

Bike Blogs Unite
MasiGuy aka TJMG talks about this guy, Mack, who is a super blogger and created a fantastic meme awhile back. His meme started quite a stir, got a lot of attention and introduced people to some great new blogs they'd never heard of. Mack's meme was built around the community of marketing blogs, but the idea is totally portable and applicable to any and all niches. So, in honor of the original meme (which TJMG really loved and posted about on his other blog, TJMG is spinning this off for the bike nerd crowd. The original title was the Z-List), the so-called A-List of blogs/ bloggers. It was all about community. Our community is all about bicycles, so TJMG is calling this the B-List... for hopefully obvious reasons. Here's how it works; I post my list of bike blogs that I like and read and then you cut and paste the list onto your blog and add the sites that you like and read. Then anybody who reads the list does the same and a great viral meme is born, creating lots of exposure to the blogs on the lists and giving people a new set of blogs to read that they might not have known anything about. It's a great way to build and foster community among our peer group of cycling bloggers... and it's also a lot of fun and brings people together for a big virtual hug.Without further delay; here are my regular bike blog reads (my B-List), in no particular order at all... (bk says: Actually there is an order. Alphabetical. Who's the smarty pants now?)

The Age of Aquarius
Hi Super Fans!

I hope every one of you had safe and happy holiday season. Here's to an exciting new year, which is bursting with opportunity.

Here's what's going on for Bitch Kittie Enterprises. . . . I was lucky enough to get my amazing site designer, Ro , who is responsible for the current design of the site, to put together a little something something for the new year. I will be switching to WordPress AND changing hosts, so if we're down, hang on. This cat ain't gone that easy. You will always be able to get here through www.bitchkittie.blogger.com. I will have a big to do on here when the new site is up because I'm pretty excited.

Now that Blogger has changed their new version from "Beta" to just "New Blogger" we may be able to haul all the past postings to the WordPress version. I am not sure about this - that's why I have Ro. If you know anything concerning this or invented Blogger or something like that, feel free to let me know. (bkouttathebag@gmail.com)

Resolutions Suck. They just do. I have a few ideas for the things I would like to improve on for the new year, I just hate to call them resolutions. That sounds so final and unattainable. Let me just throw a few things out there that are reasonable.

1. Stop biting my nails. I've been doing it for as long as I can remember, and this is the year I'm going to nip it in the bud. (Did I say reasonable? We'll see)

2. Sign a current pro racer and manage his cyclo cross contracts. Wow. That's pretty specific. . . .think BK may have something in the works there?

3. Get the laptop over to Raven Computers and get the new keyboard installed from the water bottle incident. Yes, I realize this happened almost 2 full months ago. I am bad.

4. Put at least ONE cycling related item in every posting. Starting tomorrow.

Ok. . I may add to these. I wouldn't count on it.

Peace Out

Merry Christmas From Bobke

Ok, hold your horses. This is what Bob Roll got me for Christmas. It's a basket of chocolate. Since my kids decided to jump in, it got rearranged and you can't see the numerous Ghiradelli and Godivas (I FREAKING LOVE GODIVA) laced through this Manwich Sized Chocolate extravaganza. Here's the best part. . . it's the best time of the month to get this.

Just a normal Tuesday

Precursor.

Right place right time has changed many things about my life.

Working in the office this morning. .. . writing a random email to my friend BM (his real initials) about Mr. T and Nelson Mandela and then the phone rang. "Hi Jes, this is Elizabeth from Gray's Tied House. Think you could swing the lunch shift today? Nikki's kid is really sick and we need some help." I go in to take one for the team today and have my Tuesday afternoon date with Mr. BK at the bar after, as usual.

We were sitting there talking about how this computer program, which name I don't recall, is going to change his life - or our life - as far as his technical support is concerned. I guess you can go in and "take over" someone's computer and SHOW them how to fix something. One of the head honchos at the Tied House, Sean, was at the bar and I hollered over to him, as only a true BK can, "Hey Sean! Got any tickets for the Packer Viking game on Thursday night?" He didn't. Hoewever, about 5 minutes later, Brian (the "NORM!" of Grays) says "How many tickets you want?" Turns out, BK, her BFF in Arkansas, Tricia (this is one of the good ones from us at the last Packer Saints game at Lambeau) and 2 other guests (most likely Mr. BK even though he owes me a Metallica concert and Tim the Bartender) may be going to Green Bay on Thursday night for the VIKING PACKER GAME! Holy guacamole, folks. That is a big freaking deal. For those of you making fun of how silly my midwest accent is. . . . you just wait. I'll take a video or two at the game. I'll be nothing compared to how these people talk. So, T comes in on Thursday morning and I called her at work from the bar to see if it was ok if we went to the game and to pack her Tauscher jersey. Can we say MERRY CHRISMAS BK?

Peace Out and Peace On Earth

BK's Daily Drive
Here's my retort to Masiguy's contest. Sadly, Sophia Coppola was busy today, my make up artist has the flu that's going around and my sound and lights guy got the clap. I also tried to get Stella McCartney for the wardrobe, though we couldn't find her a flight this morning. My editor Sean Carr is visiting his mommy in Bohunk, NY where he has to crank the computer to answer an email and couldn't help me out today. So much for pulling in the favors! This is my low budget redition, filled with the honesty I call my daily "drive".

Video Contest and Silly Knock Offs
For those of you who have been paying close attention, or not so close for that matter, Masiguy has been doing these silly "Daily Drive" installations everyn day on his site. Tim Grahl made a video mocking TJMG's posts and now after a few goofy attempts in the last week or so, there is an official video contest for some bike socks or something (so don't go and hire Spike Lee or anyone to make this for you). For the rules and the full story, check out the Masiguy site.

Because you are all such loyal fans, I know the big question on your mind this lovely Monday morning is "Will BK submit?" Well, the jury is still out. I have to see if I can get clever enough with the technology I have to make this happen. I think lighting may be an issue. . . I'll keep working on it today and if there is a submission, I'll post it right here at www.bitchkittie.com.

On another note, one of Madison's prodigal sons makes a silly gesture to the Lance Armstrong LiveStrong Bands. . . . . The Onion's "Cheat to Win" bracelets. . . silly . . . don't take it personally, folks.

Ok my lovlies. Have a good one. Don't forget, Santa is watching you. (Super thanks to BM for that link)
Peace Out
